Untitled

Dancer: William Brodsky

Music: "Delilah (Pull Me Out of This)”

The music, lyrics, and tone of “Delilah (Pull Me Out of This)” convey a message of emotional desperation, vulnerability, and the desire to be saved. Each section is guided by a physical or emotional prompt (e.g., “move like you’re pulling your own body out of quicksand” or “pause like the air’s been knocked out of you”). These prompts give structure while allowing creative freedom, helping the dancer explore personal meaning in the music. The score supports improvisation by giving the dancer emotional and physical targets without strict steps, keeping the performance spontaneous and alive.

11

PMA (Positive Mental Attitude)

Dancer: George Dipp

Music: Jump by Van Halen

Life is filled with uncertainty and strife. It can toss us around and break us in half if we let it, but I think the cure for this is to just keep moving with the most positive attitude you can have. This dance will be about rolling with the punches to get to what's real. Life isn't always daisies and rainbows, but that doesn't mean we have to be sad, mean, or anxious people.

12

Growth

Dancer: Phoebe Evans

Music: Brand New by Ben Rector

In my solo I want to capture what it means to look inside, reflect, and work on yourself. How pouring into your own cup and striving for your goals can lead to major self growth. Trying to pick yourself up for the better after life may knock you down.

17

Untitled

Dancer: Lucy Leventhal

Music: Hooked On A Feeling By: Blue Swede, Björn Skifs

I chose this song because I like the transition from the roughness of the Ooga-Chaka's to the upbeat rhythm that carries throughout the song. In a way, this song reminds me of my journey through improv dance class as I was nervous at first but now have a much deeper appreciation for dance and find myself enjoying it more as I've discovered my own rhythm.

Untitled

Dancer: Jaye Lis

Music:Riptide - By: Vance Joy

I chose this song for my solo because it has a catchy, fun rhythm. However, the song really is a mix of vulnerability and unpredicability that especially now really speaks to me and reasonates with me after I've been so sick the past few weeks! This song to me really tells a story while still giving me the opportunity to express my improvisational skills with the rhythm and emotion expressed by the song!

20

Untitled

Dancer: Alyssa Longo

Music: Girl$ by Dom Dolla

I'm about to graduate and this song reminds me of one of the best night's I had in Miami with my little Lucy. She's the reason I'm taking this class and I'm going to miss her a lot. This improvisation performance for me is about dancing through one of my favorite memories and bringing that night back to life.

Dancer: Ciara Schweitzer

The meaning of my dance is growing up and moving on to new journeys in life. As I am graduating this semester it will represent me moving on from college into the next chapter of my life, even though I am still young I am starting a new chapter in life.
